Ramadan is one of the biggest consumer moments of the year in Nigeria. Brands that get it right build real goodwill with a deeply engaged audience. Brands that get it wrong are easy to spot.
For Burger King Nigeria's Ramadan campaign, Aktivate picked seven creators whose audiences already trust them on faith, family, food and culture. Here's what happened, what the numbers showed, and what we'd do again.
The Brief
Reach Nigerian Muslim audiences during Ramadan in a way that felt real, not like a sales pitch. That meant choosing creators for audience fit rather than follower count.
Each of the seven creators came from a different content area, and each published one post.
The Creators and Their Results
@oyiza_xx (Lifestyle) 4,201 likes, 14 comments, 13 replies. 4,228 total engagement.
@mommyasa (Family & Parenting) 3,509 likes, 55 comments, 17 replies. 3,581 total engagement.
@the_aminah (Lifestyle Aesthetic) 3,106 likes, 58 comments, 11 replies. 3,175 total engagement.
@mayream_salam (Culture & Community) 1,795 likes, 46 comments, 7 replies. 1,848 total engagement.
@feesa_everyday (Fashion & Modesty) 995 likes, 73 comments, 27 replies. 1,095 total engagement.
@angel.zee (Beauty) 483 likes, 215 comments, 38 replies. 736 total engagement.
@shadeof.umaruu (Gen-Z / Creative) 327 likes, 13 comments, 12 replies.
Total campaign engagement: over 14,600 from seven posts.
Reach Is Not the Same as Resonance
Oyiza_xx had the highest engagement of the campaign, and almost all of it came from likes. That shows strong reach, but with only 14 comments her audience mostly watched and moved on.
Angel.zee went the other way. She had 483 likes but 215 comments, a ratio nobody else in the campaign came close to. Her audience stopped and talked back. For a campaign meant to feel culturally real, that kind of depth matters.
Feesa_everyday sat in the middle on volume but had the second-highest comment count. Solid reach plus real conversation made her one of the most well-rounded creators on the campaign.
Consistency Beats One Good Post
We also looked at each creator's recent posting history to separate the reliable creators from the up-and-down ones.
Feesa_everyday averaged about 5,220 engagements per post, the highest in the group. Her campaign post came in below that, so there's room to do more with her.
Mommyasa averaged about 2,870 engagements and was the steadiest creator in the group. Her Ramadan post beat her own average.
The_aminah averaged about 2,680 engagements, with very little change from week to week.
Oyiza_xx averaged about 2,560 engagements across 100 posts. Her campaign post well outperformed that, so the Ramadan brief clearly landed with her audience.
Mayream_salam spikes on faith and community content, which is exactly what a Ramadan brief needs.
Angel.zee posts less often, but her campaign post beat her average.
Shadeof.umaruu has a smaller Gen-Z audience that reliably responds to visual content.
Why It Worked
The win came from covering several kinds of Ramadan audience at the same time.
Ramadan touches mothers planning family iftars, women shopping for modest fashion, Gen-Z creators sharing their routines, and community voices reflecting on faith. Covering all of them at once put Burger King in front of its whole potential audience, not just one slice of it.
The best performers were the creators whose audiences already linked them to Ramadan content. When a creator's own brand and the brief line up, the numbers show it.
What We'd Do Next Time
For long-term ambassador roles: mommyasa, feesa_everyday and the_aminah. All three deliver week after week.
For culturally specific campaigns: mayream_salam and mommyasa. Their comment sections show audiences who care personally.
For maximum visibility: oyiza_xx and feesa_everyday.
For Gen-Z and niche audiences: shadeof.umaruu and angel.zee. Smaller numbers, but very engaged communities.
The Bigger Picture
Most brand campaigns overlook Nigeria's Muslim creators. Ramadan, with its suhoor and iftar moments, modest fashion, and family and community content, is a real chance for brands to build relationships instead of just collecting impressions.
Burger King's Ramadan campaign showed what's possible when you pair a brand with creators who already live in that culture. Over 14,600 engagements from seven posts is a strong number, and it's proof that the right creators reach people in a way they actually respond to.
